As a valued member of our community we would like to inform you that the Snag Island community garden will be applying for a grant to be able to plant more fruit trees as well as aquaponics grow beds at the community garden. We hope that if we were to obtain funding for this major community project, that not only will you be able to lend a hand with setting up the new aquaponics grow beds, but to also help dig the holes for the new fruit trees. To make sure that the fruit trees have more of a chance of survival these will not be planted in the hotter months of the year but towards late Autumn/early winter 2019. We value your input regarding this application. If you would like to discuss this application with a committee member then please contact Kate on the number listed below who can put you in contact with the right committee member.
Without the continued support from the community, the Snag Island Community Garden would not be as far along as what it already is.
A new chicken enclosure is being built next to the small greenhouse. A larger greenhouse is also going to be built where the old chicken pen is at the moment. We have been fortunate enough that a second-hand structure has been kindly donated by Swan Aussie Sheds in Jurien Bay which will be used as a larger greenhouse which will allow us to be able to house more aquaponic grow beds, as well as a larger growing area for plants not grown in the aquaponics beds. If you are able to lend a hand with either project then please let us know. We have been fortunate enough so far to have received so much help in the initial stages. And without the community support that shines bright within our community, the garden would not be the community hub that it is today.
If you can help or know someone that can help with any work down at the garden then please contact Kate on 0427 282 625.
Once again thank you for your support.
