The latest Hunger report which was released yesterday, shows that vulnerable families in regional and remote areas find it harder to access food and when they run out and are unable to afford to buy more, they are more likely to feel embarrassed and unable to talk to friends and family about their situation. This is one of the reasons that the Snag Island Community Garden started running our monthly Food Co-op. To date we have supplied close to 400 kilos of food to people in need. So please do not feel embarrassed to attend. We are here to help as best as we can. Register through our Food co-op page. You don’t have to live in Leeman to attend, you just need a benefit card or if you are in financial hardship. Our next one is Friday the 26th of October, but please pre-register so we make sure we buy enough food for everyone
We would like to thank the Green Head Men's Shed for awarding us a grant which will go towards buying more chicken food for our hungry girls. The girls are coming back on the lay with the warmer weather, so if you need some eggs or have food scraps to donate then please shoot us a message.
The only thing that we don't feed our girls is citrus fruits, tomatoes and raw potatoes (including potato peel)
